the stony bible

the picture cycle „the stony bible“ was created in the summer of 2000, inspired by the medieval stone figures, known under the same title, at the outer wall of the romanesque church of schöngrabern. The cycle depicts stories from the old and the new testament, such as “the fall of man”, “cain and abel”, “the devil with the list of sins” and so on – topics that are still relevant today – a millennium later – as it is always man who is at the centre, hoping, pressing forward and fighting, torn between good and bad - eternally searching.
